Event Update to Residents and Runners

Dear resident and runner,

On behalf of the Moggill Marathon event team, we are thrilled to announce that our event is returning for its second year, and we have taken all feedback received from runners, sponsors, residents, and community groups from last year’s event to make improvements.

Road Closures

Our primary goal is to ensure minimal impact on the local community, while providing an incredible event for runners and spectators alike.

With just under three months to go, we want to provide clarity to the local community that there will be no full road closures during the event.

Residents will be able to leave their properties, just exercise caution for runners, and where necessary, follow the instructions from traffic controllers. Only minor delays of a few minutes could be expected, if any.

A professional traffic management company and the Moggill SES will be managing the event.

Please share this message within your networks to help ensure clarity on guidance for residents.

More communication will be sent out closer to the event and a letterbox drop will occur to streets on the routes prior to 5th May.

We believe this year’s event will be a great opportunity for Moggill to come together as a community and cheer on the dedicated runners taking part in the event. With the stunning scenery of Moggill as a backdrop, and hopefully a sunny day, we are sure that everyone will have a great time.

2023 Improvements

We have focussed on introducing additional improvements this year, including:

  • Inclusion of Early Bird, Family and Team discounts, and a commitment to retain base cost (excluding the additional fees which have been passed on from suppliers).
  • Amending the 21k and 10k course to remove the Kangaroo Gully out and back segment.
  • Introducing more signage at key points, having coloured bibs per race and brief marshals to ensure they can guide runners more effectively with regards to course directions.
  • Creating the Schools and Community Team Challenge for the 5k event, ensuring local teams come together for fun competition and the chance of winning $500!
  • Organising runners within a holding area at the Brisbane West Uniting Church car park for a more structured start.

Fundraising

The Poolwerx Moggill Marathon is a charity event, the main beneficiary again this year is Bravery Box, supporting children and teens undergoing cancer treatment. Any funds raised from the event will be given back to beneficiaries which include Bravery Box and local community groups.

Our purpose to foster community connection through an active and healthy lifestyle. A list of beneficiaries from the inauguaral event can be found here 2022 Moggill Marathon Wrap-up – Moggill Marathon.

Save the date, from 6.30am to 9.30am on Sunday 21st May 2023, either run, walk or volunteer, or just come along to cheer on the runners and join in the festivities of the Poolwerx Moggill Marathon!
