What you need to Know

We are giving participants more space by having separate run start times to spread volumes of peoples and alleviate any parking access issues.  So, plan ahead by either choosing to:

  • drive and park or
  • utilise public transport or
  • locals may consider walking/riding

Participants will be able to access car parking at the Moggill Village, 3366 Moggill Road, Moggill.  Parking is available along Moggill Road approaching Moggill Village Shopping Centre only. No parking is available within the course of the event or around Westaway Park.  Please refer to the Changed Traffic Conditions for specific details.

A number of disabled parks are available at the Moggill Village, 3366 Moggill Road, Moggill.

Why not ride or walk to the event? Bicycles can be secured at public bike racks at Moggill Village Shopping Centre, Westaway Park, and surrounding streets.

IF YOU ARE AN ENTRANT IN THE FULL MARATHON, RACE PACKS MUST BE COLLECTED THE DAY PRIOR.

You can collect your RACE PACK on race day (this is not recommended) but must be collected at least 15-30 minutes before your run event from Moggill Uniting Church.

If you have already collected your race kit, you can proceed straight to the marshalling area at opposite Registration at the Moggill Uniting Church carpark.

Note if merchandise purchased as part of a race entry fee but not picked up on or before the start time of the race event date may be resold by the organisers.  Participants will be entitled to receive a refund for the merchandise equal to the organisers cost of the merchandise, provided the participant provides a written request of such within seven (7) days of the race event date.

Registration Process

The Moggill Marathon Road2Rural Fun Run events registration process on race day is only for those runners WHO HAVE NOT COLLECTED their race packs. 

Registration will be at the Moggill Uniting Church, cnr Kangaroo Gully and Moggill Roads for those that have not collected race packs only.

The start line is on Kangaroo Gully Road. The staging/holding area will runners will be Moggill Uniting Church carpark (opposite Registration Desk).

The finish line is in Westaway Park.

Please note, toilets, first aid, an Events Operation marquee are located at the Finish Line in the designated area in Westaway Park.

Walk from the Registration Desk to the carpark directly opposite the desk and wait in the supporters congregation area till you are called for your run event by a Marshall.

If you have already collected your race kit, please proceed directly to runners staging/holding area until you are called for your run event by a Marshall.

There is no baggage storage available.

The start line is located at the top of Kangaroo Gully Road near the intersection of Moggill Road with all competitors pre-race are to congregate in the designated waiting area signed in the carpark of Moggill Uniting Church at their allocated times.

The Moggill Marathon Road2Rural run events utilises electronic timing chips which are affixed to your race number.  Your personal race time (or net time) will be recorded as you cross the timing mats at the start line and will finish when you cross the finish line mats at the end.  Your official time for age category placing is based on your gun time and does not take into account your net time.

Prams are allowed for the:

  • Mt Moggill 10km
  • Wild Goose Chase 5km
  • Fun Run 2km.

Pets, Scooter, Bike, Skates/boards are not permitted in the above run events and including the Road2Rural Half Marathon 21km.

NOTE: Prams are not permitted in the Road2Rural Half Marathon 21km for runner safety.

We strongly recommend headphones are not worn during the event, so you hear and fully understand all special instructions and announcements.

Yes, you are welcome to walk however please note that there are cut off times for each event refer race day cut off times. 

Organise a meeting point at Moggill Village Shopping Centre, 3366 Moggill Road, Moggill before making your way to Westaway Park to congregate pre-race.  Possibly enjoy the opportunity to meet with sponsors and members of The Lions Club Brisbane West prior to your run event being called to the pre-race waiting area.

Course Safety

We want the event to be fun and safe for everybody. Please ensure you follow the below safety procedures:

  • Prams, Pets, Scooters, Bikes, scooters, skates/boards are not permitted on course.
  • Listen for announcements and follow directions from event officials.
  • Only go to the start line when directed by officials.
  • Walkers to remain behind runners to allow them an unobstructed start.
  • Runners with strollers should assemble at the back of their designated zone (check out the precinct signage if you’re not sure where to go).
  • Marshals will also be around on the day to direct you to the correct assembly zone.
  • Keep LEFT at all times unless passing.
  • Runners who find they need to stop or walk, please move to the left and be mindful of other participants running behind you.
  • We strongly recommend headphones are not worn during the event, so you hear and fully understand all special instructions and announcements.
  • First aid will be located on course and at the Start and Finish Lines.

Paramedics and SES are stationed at Events Operations in Westaway Park with first aid members out on course.

Race Cut-off Times

Yes, there are cut off times for all distances:

Marathon 42.2km:

  • 5 hours from START.

Half Marathon 21.1km:

  • 3 hours from START.  

10km:

  • 2 hours 30 minutes from START.  

5km:

  • 1 hour 30 minutes from START.

2km:

  • 1 hour from START.

All runners will be off the roads by 11am. If any runners remain at this time, they may be escorted via vehicle back to the finish line.

The exact time is only estimated at this stage as it is dependent on all participants being at the exact time on the Start Line at the defined time.  The estimated time of cut off is shown in the above and on the Register page.

The Finish Line is located at the end of Witty Road nearest Moggill Road, Moggill parallel to Westaway Park.

All runners will receive an medal when crossing the finish line.

Further details regarding place-getters prize money / awards and details on presentations will be available closer to the event or on the day of the event.

Weather

In the event of a storm, or inclement weather, the Moggill Marathon Committee will communicate via email and all social media platforms if the event is to be cancelled to ensure the safety of all participants.

Other

A sausage sizzle shall be available for participants to buy should they wish.  Food will also be available from Moggill Village Shopping Centre once shops open (Coles opens at 9:00am on Sundays) on the day of the event.  BYO water in reusable bottles, use any available water dispensers at the site.

On the day of the event, you will be able to donate funds to support Bravery Box.

Unfortunately, no dogs allowed.

Staying COVID Safe

The Moggill Marathon Road2Rural Fun Run events will be delivered in accordance with COVID Safe practices and plan based on current Queensland Health guidelines. The plan is in place to provide a safe and fun event for everyone.

To participate in these events, you are asked to meet all the applicable Commonwealth and/or State health directions.

We are managing this event in accordance with the current Queensland Health guidelines providing a safe and fun event for everyone.

To deliver a COVID safe event we will:

  • Utilise full / partial road closures so you can walk or run with more space around you
  • Separate the start and finish line locations to reduce crowding
  • Expand start times to give everyone more assembly space
  • Collect every participants details as part of registration to allow for contact tracing, if required
  • Provide a race timing device as part of their entry

Additionally, there will be:

  • Sanitiser stations
  • COVID safe activities
  • Medics located at the Start and Finish line areas with SES throughout the course

Based on information from Queensland Health, it is NOT mandatory for entrants to be vaccinated to participate in the 2022 Poolwerx Moggill Marathon Road2Rural Events.  This is based on the directive that unvaccinated persons may enter outdoor community events including marathons.  Please note that contact tracing measures will continue to be implemented during the event.  For more information, please visit Queensland Health

COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted across Queensland but there is the potential for tougher restrictions to return. You can register with peace of mind knowing if COVID-19 impacts your participation on the day of the event, then the participant must advise organisers in writing to hello@moggillmarathon.com.au within seven (7) days post the event date, then the organiser shall transfer your registration fee following years event.

If there is any significant change that affects all participants, our team will contact you via email.

The health of our participants and our community is Moggill Marathon Road2Rural Fun Run events highest priority.

Stay home if you:

  • Are unwell or displaying COVID-19 symptoms such as a cough, fever, sore throat, fatigue, shortness of breath, loss of smell or loss of taste, diarrhoea &/or nausea/vomiting
  • Are a close contact of someone with COVID-19
  • Have tested positive for COVID-19
  • Are required to be isolating
  • Have undertaken a COVID-19 PCR test and awaiting the result

Maintain social distancing

Keep 1.5m between yourself and others (2 big steps).

Wash your hands regularly

Practice good hand hygiene. Wash your hands frequently and use hand sanitiser where provided.
