Complete either the marathon, half marathon, 10km, 5km or 2km fun run, taking in the beautiful scenery of the Moggill area, located in the Western Suburbs of Brisbane.
We do add one word of “caution” regarding the elevation of these routes and challenge you to train in anticipation of attempting to scale ‘Mount Moggill’ and some of the lumps and bumps along the way!
Whether you choose to walk or run, the Poolwerx Moggill Marathon, there is something for everyone. The event will be a huge amount of fun and bring excitement and support for many great causes on the day.
The event is not for profit, our beneficiary from the event is Bravery Box, who support children undergoing cancer treatment, along with local community groups.
Runners Feedback
"Thank you - such a great event! There is a real sense of community about the day and it’s such a nice area to run around."
I've been telling everyone what a great event this is and I look forward to coming back."
"Thank you for the opportunity to compete, it was a great event and well organised. I definitely look forward to participating in the future."
"I had a great time out on course. The marshals were all well briefed, the drink station volunteers were hyping up all the runners as they came through, and I lined up some sweet high fives with the caterpillar on the two out and back sections of the course. The run hub at the finish line with food, water, and give-aways was great too."
"You have designed a tough but enjoyable course with good community involvement."
"Had a blast - what a fun event! Thanks very much."
"I have run the Gold Coast and Sydney marathons and never have I come across such hills! They were killers! That was tough! But, I'll be back next year."
About the Event
The Poolwerx Moggill Marathon is a whole community fun-run event that was first instigated in 2020 by local Moggill residents David Ember, Emil Schoeman and friends.
“At this time, Emil and I were running Rocks Riverside Park Run every Saturday together for fun after we met late 2019 through our daughters attending the same prep class at Moggill State School” said David.
Initially David and Emil were daunted by the scale of the challenge ahead. The furthest they had run before was a half marathon. But training was going well, until in March, the pandemic kicked in and the Brisbane Marathon they had signed up for was cancelled. Thus they created their own marathon around the hills of Moggill starting and finishing at Westaway Park.
Volunteering at the Moggill Marathon is an exciting way to give back and make a positive difference in your community.
Every volunteer plays a crucial role in the success of this monumental event, where hundreds of runners. walkers and families participate.
As a volunteer you can help with pre-race preparation, assist with onsite registration, provide runners with water or valuable course information for spectators as they cheer on their favourite runners.
The volunteer staff at the Moggill Marathon are dedicated to creating an enjoyable experience for everyone involved; come join us and see how rewarding it can be to volunteer.
